The Breast Unit gives specific focus to breast health in females. The services offered include breast augmentation or reduction, or to receive treatment for cancerous or non-cancerous conditions affecting the breast.
Breast cancer is the number one cancer affecting females in Barbados. With such a heavy burden affecting many females on a daily basis, appropriate screening, diagnostic and treatment services for breast health become more important. Earlier intervention could potentially lead to an increase in successful treatment.
The Breast Unit provides holistic care that also includes surgical treatment and post-mastectomy reconstruction to help our patients in their journey back to a sense of normalcy. Consultations are done by surgeons affiliated with the Centre, after which an appropriate course of treatment is agreed on by the surgeon and patient.
