Surgery

The Centre has the capacity to undertake all surgical specialities but currently general, gynaecological, and plastic and reconstructive cases are done by several surgeons affiliated with the Centre.

General surgery is the specialty that encompasses conditions affecting the abdomen, skin, breasts and soft tissues. Some of the common cases performed by the general surgeons include: hernia repairs, removal of lumps from breasts or other areas of the skin, mastectomy, hemorrhoids, gall bladder removal and cyst removal.

Conditions affecting the female reproductive system, whether cancerous or not, fall under the care of the gynaecological surgeon. Uterine fibroids, post-menopausal bleeding, and vaginal and bladder prolapses are instances where surgical intervention is an available option.

Plastic and reconstructive surgery is the specialist area that is concerned with improving aesthetics and/or function. These surgeons commonly perform breast augmentation (reduction or enhancement), tummy tucks and facial improvements.
